“Because creating will make you feel alive.”
Ilaria Agostini (IlAgoArt) is an author, visual artist and videomaker. Her artistic practice grows out of the encounter between words and images, moving across drawing, writing, video, performance, music and interpretation, continuously exploring passages from one language to another.
At the heart of her work is storytelling, understood not only as narrative, but as the possibility of creating worlds, relationships and shared spaces. A character may be born in writing and become an image; a drawing may turn into a video; a biography may evolve into a script, music and performance. In the same way, an encounter between people can generate a new artistic experience.
“Art is not incidental.” It was from this perspective that, in 2017, she founded Writer Monkey, initially conceived as a social network for writers and gradually transformed into a real community and cultural space: a place where artists and people who love art can meet, experiment, create and, often, feel at home. Over the years, this experience has given rise to publishing projects, performances, workshops, festivals, and cultural and social initiatives.
The same idea of cross-pollination lies at the heart of ScenaLuna, the multidisciplinary festival she co-created and curates together with Giorgiana Moruzzi, aka JolyArt. The festival was created to bring different artists, experiences and artistic languages into dialogue.
In both her personal practice and collective projects, IlAgoArt explores art above all as a way of crossing boundaries: between reality and imagination, words and images, the individual and the community, personal creation and shared experience.
