Data and contact details

Daniela Bellofiore is a self-taught visual artist and material-based practitioner. Her research originates in the isolation of the Sicilian countryside near Syracuse, where what was useless became necessary and discarded materials took on new forms. From this background, she developed a practice centered on the transformation of matter: fragments, burned papers, photographs, and found objects are cut, layered, and reassembled into three-dimensional structures that overturn the logic of the surface.

Since 2004, she has exhibited her work through a path that has evolved from collage and three-dimensional assemblages to the development of original artistic languages. In 2012, she created Volumized Photography, a technique that pushes photography beyond two dimensions through three-dimensional supports built from recycled boxes and residual materials. In 2019, she presented this body of work in a solo exhibition curated within Rome Art Week. In 2025, her research evolved into Pictorial Volumetries, hybrid works in which wet-on-paper paintings are deconstructed and layered onto three-dimensional supports, generating perceptual short circuits between painting, sculpture, and image.

Her work Sacrifice is part of the permanent collection of the Fondazione Collegio Nazareno in Rome, a recognition that confirms the solidity of her research on matter as an archive of the present.

Alongside her artistic practice, Bellofiore integrates a pedagogical dimension, guiding children in transforming everyday objects into expressive languages, where mistakes become creative triggers. Her work investigates fragility as a generative condition: every remnant becomes an origin, every fracture a new form.
