Data and contact details

Mariano Mazzelli is a Roman artist and engineer. Raised first in the outskirts of Tuscolano and then Pigneto, he began his exhibition career in the 1980s thanks to the painter Mines Preda De Carolis, who presented some of his works to the gallery owner Agnese Contardi of the “La Pigna” gallery, headquarters of the UCAI (Catholic Union of Italian Artists), with themed group exhibitions. During these years, again thanks to De Carolis, he came into contact with important figures of the Roman intelligentsia, two in particular: the Florentine poet Margherita Guidacci and the art critic and journalist Luigi Tallarico, a contributor, among others, to the magazine “Futurismo Oggi” founded by Enzo Benedetto. These years included group exhibitions for the Pandosia Prize in Marano Principato (CS) and those at the Galleria del Canovaccio in Rome for the Canova Prize. In 2000, after a stay in Naples of about three years, he arrived in Friuli Venezia Giulia where, in 2012, he decided to open the doors of his Home-Atelier in Monfalcone with the exhibition, reviewed by Il Giornale OFF, “Parole di Pietra” (Words of Stone) on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the aim of creating aggregation and food for thought on current, even controversial, issues. In December 2013, issue 165 of the contemporary art magazine “Juliet Art Magazine” published an interview with journalist Serenella Dorigo on the occasion of the exhibition “Urbanring - Clean Walls, Silent Peoples,” which was repeated in May 2014 at the Mini-Mu in Parco San Giovanni in Trieste, under the patronage of the Province. In November 2015, the Director of Juliet Art Magazine, Roberto Vidali, interviewed him on the occasion of the double event “Requiem” marking the fortieth anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s death; the interview was published in issue 207 of the press magazine “NTWK Friendly Magazine.” In July 2016, the art gallery “La Fortezza” in Gradisca d’Isonzo organized the exhibition “Return to Pasolini,” reviewed by Cristina Feresin, in which Mazzelli’s works dialogue with those of Giuseppe Zigaina. In June 2016, the catalog for the "Requiem" event was published by Juliet Editrice. In July 2016, the magazine-format catalog for the "Return to Pasolini" event was published as a special issue of the "Gradisc'arte" series. In June 2017, an interview with her about the "Requiem" event curated by Elisabetta Bacci was published in issue 183 of "Juliet Art Magazine." In December 2017, she participated, with artists Matej Čepin, Nataša Kos, Dobrivoje & Ivan Krgović, in the exhibition "Inside/Outside: the human condition" curated by Elisabetta Bacci at the Lux Art Gallery in Trieste. In 2018, during the opening of the exhibition "Artisti del territorio" at the municipal gallery "Antiche mura" in Monfalcone, her work "Forza Itaglia!" was censored by the curator of the exhibition space and ordered to leave the gallery; the exhibition was canceled after 50 minutes with the guests and other artists present. He has exhibited in the Roman galleries La Pigna, Il Canovaccio, La Margherita, and Della Tartaruga, in the Church of the Artists, and in cities in Italy and abroad. He has been recognized by critics as one of the emerging contemporary artists (Paese Sera). Many of his works are included in private collections. His drawings were published in the book "Favole per pensare," published by Lepisma, by Imelda Santoro. The exhibition "The Ideological World" was presented in February 2025 at "Il Carso in Corso" in Monfalcone (GO) with an interview in issue 20 of the newspaper "Il Monfalconese"; From June 19 to July 31, 2025, the exhibition was presented in Testaccio (Rome) at "Casamora" with an introduction by the Honorable Stefano Caldoro. Articles about the exhibition "The Ideological World" have been published in: "Dayitalianews," "il Goriziano," "Nordest24," and "corrieredellospettacolo.net." The catalog edited by "Maielart" is available, ISBN code: 979-12-210-9587-6.
