BrUJ4 is the stage name of Ilaria Fabi, a Roman artist born in 1999.

Her educational journey unfolds through artistic and anthropological studies, allowing her to experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques.

Her first project, “M0M,” was born in 2023, developed through the decontextualization of biomaterials applied to the surgical and healthcare world.
The artist chooses to subject minerals and natural elements to alchemical transmutation, projecting them into a quest for longevity.

Alchemists believed that through the execution of specific rituals, the refinement of organic elements, and the understanding of the principles of nature, it was possible to transform matter into nobler forms.
The elements she primarily draws from include clay, glycerin, agar agar, plant juices, secretions, and starches.
The union of these components gives life to organic works in constant change and transformation, generating mold and organisms capable of surviving the environmental differences to which they are exposed.

In this sense, the artist finds herself working with a material that lives independently, whose form and transformation she cannot foresee.
Her perspective does not solely consider the material physiognomy of the form but seeks to alter its apparent reality, going far beyond the physical limit.

In this case, her work on canvas tells the story of a macro social study; perceived reality inevitably transcends into perfect geometry, revealing its intersubjective dimensions.
It speaks not only of a post-human dimension, but also of the effects and resonances characteristic of the era in which the artwork demands to exist.

The symbolic union of various elements is intended to provoke conflicting thoughts in the viewer — merging the delicacy and complexity of the maternal womb with a hybrid terrain devastated by geopolitical upheaval, which not only challenges institutional beliefs but asserts its difference in the unknown.

The relationship between the artwork and the viewer is central.
