I am a non-binary artist and transfeminist activist with Lucha y Siesta. I live and work in Rome.
My practice stems from encounters: with people, with bodies, with places, and with the stories that run through them. I am interested in art as a form of listening and as a way of gathering what is often left on the margins: memories, experiences, bodies, desires, conflicts and forms of resistance.
I work on the body, memory, the local area and relationships. Sometimes I start from my relationship with my trans body; at other times, from a place or the story of those who inhabit it. This also gives rise to works that play with gender, drag, representation and public space. I move between relational art, drawing, sound, microsculpture, photography, video, performance and installation.
My identity as a transfeminist runs through this research: it leads me to question the way in which bodies are represented, which lives are heard and which remain invisible. It prompts me to reflect on creative processes, on how to deconstruct patriarchal models and collectively find new ways of making art. In recent years, this research has become intertwined with my work on gender-based violence and discrimination, through artworks, performances, workshops, lectures and talks at universities and in public spaces.
I like to think of my work as a way of experiencing reality. I listen, I embrace, I transform and I give back. I try to make art a megaphone, but also a place of healing and possibility: a space where individual experiences can become shared memory and, from there, open up new imaginaries.
