Located at Via del Velabro 9, in a building conceived by Alda Fendi and designed by Jean Nouvel, rhinoceros brings together contemporary art, architecture and hospitality. Through exhibitions, collaborations and special projects, rncrs connects artists, institutions and international audiences.
Currently rhinoceros gallery presents Xi Niu: In Search of New Routes, a special project exploring contemporary artistic practices from China, curated by independent curator Claire Shiying Li.
The exhibition brings together seven distinct artistic practices spanning generations and media: Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun, Hao Liang, Han Mengyun, Xie Fan, Xie Nanxing, Zhao Gang, and Zhou Yilun. Through painting, sculptural installation, film, material research, and transdisciplinary collaboration, the artists create hybrid visual languages informed by centuries of entanglement across Europe and Asia. Drawing on histories extending from ancient trade routes to the transformation of contemporary society, their practices critically reconfigure systems of knowledge, formal conventions, and cultural identities under conditions of displacement.
