Biography of Stefano de Paolis
Stefano de Paolis (Rome, 1953) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work weaves together music, photography, and tattoo art. After years of travels and experimentation, he returned to live in the San Lorenzo district, a vibrant hub of creativity and underground culture.
His passion for photography began in his youth, almost as a game: capturing details of insects, landscapes, clouds—macro images that transformed the ordinary into vision. Over time, his gaze shifted toward the human body, eventually finding in artistic nude photography his main path. He has worked with numerous models and the editorial world, building an intense and intimate archive, of which he still holds the rights, testifying to his sensitivity to light, flesh, and the vulnerability of the body.
In parallel, de Paolis founded Graffio Tattoo Studio, which soon became a landmark in the Roman scene. He took part in major international conventions—from Berlin to Hamburg—alongside leading masters of the field, helping to spread a personal and instinctive vision of tattooing as a permanent sign, an inscription of identity and memory.
Music has been another guiding thread of his journey: he has collaborated with Italian recording studios and emerging artists, merging sound and image in a total artistic approach—never linear, always in motion.
