Luisa Valeriani
My research is an inner and visual dialogue on human uniqueness. I use writing and symbols as acts of resistance and memory, turning everyday fragments into pictorial metaphors. I don’t offer answers, but spaces for reflection and emotion.
Data and contact details

My research stems from an urgency: to activate in the observer a profound and authentic confrontation with themselves and with the complexity of the human being.

It is a process that begins with me, personally, through constant observation, reflection, and a silent yet continuous dialogue with what surrounds me. My works are the visual restitution of this inner journey.

In a present dominated by frenzy and digital homogenization, I feel the need to bring uniqueness back to the center: of the word, the gesture, the sign.

For me, handwriting is an act of resistance. Letters and numbers, which I include in my works, are not mere decorative elements: they become pigments, symbols, fragments of memory and identity. Each sign is unrepeatable, just as every individual is.

I believe in the immortal power of words: capable of crossing time, surpassing the voice and hand of those who wrote them. Yet, in an age that demands speed and constant connection, that sign risks disappearing. This is also why I chose to let it live in painting: so that it may return to being matter, presence, emotion.

The symbol, in my research, plays a central role. I experience this time of overlaps and confusion as fertile ground to seek “suspended moments”: fragments of the eternal hidden in daily life. I often capture them with a smartphone shot, a quick and spontaneous gesture that allows me to fix an ephemeral balance. From that frame I strip away its ordinary dimension, I redraw it, I recompose it. I intervene with painting, with layers and contrasts, restoring depth, soul, matter.

My works aim to be visual metaphors, open spaces for reflection. I do not seek to offer answers, but questions.

I would like to offer a cue, an opportunity to pause and step back for a few minutes, to take a breath and simply be guided by an emotion, because art, for me, is one of the few means through which the soul awakens.
