Data and contact details

Laura Grosso lives and works in Rome as a painter.

Born in Bari in 1955, she moved to Rome in 1966. She began her professional training at the Art School on Via Ripetta under the guidance of painter Marina Poggi. She continued her studies in Painting under Alberto Ziveri at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, graduating with honors in 1978.

She devoted herself to the study of the figure in movement, drawing from life during rehearsals for Enzo Cosimi's first dance performances, and began her experience painting en plein air in the Tuscan countryside around Florence.

She moved to Chicago, where she began her "Urban Views" series.

From 1998 to 2008, the "Views of Rome" series was presented at the Galleria Andrè on Via Giulia in Rome in many solo and group exhibitions, and the paintings were included in private collections in Italy and abroad.

In 2007, she began teaching a select group of students, with whom she devoted herself to the study of still life.

Since 2011, following her participation in the Chinese initiative "Italian Painters Paint Hangzhou," she has returns to the compositions of figures with the historical theme of the Bathers ("Humans").

Since 2014, she has participated in the "Plein Air Symposium" in various European locations, curated by Galerie Huber & Treff in Jena, Germany.

Since 2019, Angelo Zaccaria's "BaArt Gallery" has curated exhibitions of her works in her hometown of Bari.
